3/25/22 – This is a very rare Steyr G29(o) assembly that was part of a small Luftwaffe contract. These rifles were part of a separate contract that was being manufactured at Steyr when the 1938 annexation of Austria occurred. The Luftwaffe, in desperate need of small arms, immediately took over the production and the rifle was modified as much as possible to the standard 98k Rifle configuration. It was made briefly in 1938 and early 1939, after which the factory was re-tooled to manufacture the standard K98k. This one is mostly matching except for the follower and bolt assembly. The stock is numbered to the gun, and you can see some faint waffen proofs on the right side of the stock. Comes with an original cleaning rod. There are areas of thinning and light brown patina in the finish on the barrel bands, floor plate, and trigger assembly. There are some noticeable dings in the butt plate. The stock has been lightly sanded but is in excellent condition. The bore has good rifling, but there is spotty oxidation in the grooves.
