4/14/22 – This is an original, rare variation P.38 holster. The holster is maker stamped by “lyo” which was a code for Kromolowski & Sohne, located in Radom, Poland. Most “lyo” holsters are not dated, but some are 43 and 44 dated. These holsters were virtually all brown and made with inferior “scrap” leather. Most collectors believe these were made by slave labor which is why they often have stitching issues, double stamps, leather issues, and are generally poor quality. These are almost never found in good condition, and this example is no exception. The leather is weak and pliable with surface wrinkling and scuffing throughout. The lid has a rip just above the magazine pouch. The front reinforcing metal for the closure loop is missing on the lid as well. Additionally, there are a few missing stitches throughout the holster, but most of the stitching is intact. The back leather is waffen stamped, maker stamped, and P.38 stamped.
