2/28/22 – This is an excellent example of a “last-ditch” Arisaka Type 99 rifle issued to the Japanese military at the very end of WW2, in 1945. The gun is all matching and has a fully intact Imperial mum stamp on the receiver. There is almost no actual finish loss, but there is light brown patina and tiny dots of oxidation on all of the metal parts. The stock is nice, but it has dings, dents, and bruises throughout. There is a series of more noticeable gouges on the underside of the butt stock. There is a hand-written number on the right side of the butt stock, most likely a rack number. The bore is shiny, but the rifling is somewhat worn, and there are some areas of oxidation and tiny pits here and there.
