10/27/22 – This is a nice example of a Mauser Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1916. The gun is all matching to itself (including the stock) but the bolt is mismatched. It does have the proper Imperial German military acceptance proofs throughout. The gun also comes with a rare 1916-dated saw-back bayonet with its scabbard. There is noticeable oxidation covering the whole bayonet. The scabbard is noticeably dented throughout. The gun also comes with two mint boxes of 1938-dated, Nazi-marked ammo with stripper clips. The gun is in nice condition overall. There is very little finish loss along the barrel, but there is noticeable thinning and light brown patina on the receiver and floor plate / trigger assembly. Some light spotty oxidation along the barrel and splotchy discoloration on the barrel bands. Brown patina on the butt plate. The wood stock is very nice but appears to have been very lightly sanded. A few noticeable gouges on the right side and underside of the butt stock. The bore is near-mint.
