Description

The Robert Herder Hechtsabels 1559600280105 is a practical and versatile carving knife for true BBQ lovers. This version was designed in collaboration with Jeroen Hazebroek. This ‘Hechtsabels’ is ideal for removing bones from poultry or game, for example. But it is also very handy for cleaning beef or pork. With its blade length of just 15 cm, you have a lot of control over the tip. This comes in very handy for precision tasks. The handle extends slightly at the front, keeping your fingers safe at the sharpe edge. Apart from working with raw meat, this is also a perfect knife to put on a charcuterie board with a nice dry sausage.

Carbon-steel blade
The blade of the Robert Herder Hechtsabel 1559600280105 carbon steel serving knife, 15 cm is made of carbon steel. As the name might suggest, this type of steel contains high levels of carbon. Carbon provides sharpness and an important part of sharpness retention. In kitchen knives, you see that carbon-steel knives often have a very thin grind for optimal cutting performance.

A defining feature of carbon steel is that it is not corrosion resistant. It discolours very quickly, and will even rust if you don’t take good care of it. The main advantage of carbon steel is that it is very easy to sharpen. A carbon-steel kitchen knife will form a nice patina after a few uses. Take good care of it and in time, the patina will protect your knife against rust.

The blade of this knife is enhanced with a ‘satin finish’. This is a chic and tasteful finish that is very popular.

Handle made of oak
The handle of this kitchen knife is made of oak, a strong and sturdy material that feels great in hand. We all know oak as a popular type of wood for furniture and construction. But as a handle material for kitchen knives, it is actually underrated as far as we are concerned. Oak is pretty cool!

Of course, oak is a natural material. Each knife is unique!

Robert Herder: Jeroen Hazebroek Special Edition
For this special Jeroen Hazebroek Special Edition, Robert Herder has collaborated with, you guessed it, Jeroen Hazebroek! This remarkable BBQ professional brings over 30 years of barbecuing experience to the table; enough experience that he saw some opportunities to make slight improvements to Robert Herder’s already outstanding knives.

Together with Robert Herder, he has adjusted a few basic models to match his exact preferences. For one knife, a different type of steel was chosen, while for another, the blade was left slightly thicker, and so on. The result is a mouth-watering collection of kitchen knives that are also suitable for outdoor use. The best of Solingen combined with the best of Jeroen—what more could you possibly ask for?
