Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice Early WWII produced police pattern Tschako / Shako in black, which pre-dates the more common green wool body version. It has has very fine quality police eagle with aluminum cockade (often missing), though one of the securing nuts is missing from the back of the plate, along with the threaded post.
A great Polizei helmet (shako) as used by the metropolitan police, unlike some of the more common ones found in brown for rural police, this one isall black for the metropolitan police. Later these were replaced with felt covered Field Gray versions with brown or black trim.
Interior is fine, leather is supple and in excellent condition, and has the originalleather string top tie. Complete with original leather chinstrap ingood used condition. Overall it shows only hardly any wear, black lacquered finish still excellent. Vents are invery good condition, and both still have their working slide closure for the front vent on each side. Interior of helmet stillhas the original size marking of 59 on the leather liner. It also has the initials A Smarked on the liner in the back, the initials of the officer it was issued to.
Overall a fine looking rare police Shako, ready to add to your collection!
