The L’Atelier du Vin Bilame Nomad 095726-6 Twin Blade is the perfect corkscrew for the true wine lover on the move. The Bilame corkscrew is a so-called Twin Blade corkscrew. The two ‘blades’ are the protruding pins. You slide them between the cork and the inside of the bottleneck to pull the cork out of the bottle. The Twin Blade corkscrew is great for opening older wine bottles, or other bottles with a natural, brittle cork. Because the corkscrew does not drill into the cork, the cork cannot break. It is even possible to close the bottle again with the same cork.

How to use a Twin Blade corkscrew
Remove the foil from the bottle. Hold the bottleneck firmly and slide the pins between the cork and the inside of the bottleneck. Move the corkscrew from left to right while applying slight pressure. This causes the pins to slide downwards. When the pins are completely in the bottle, pull and turn the handle. This is how you remove the cork from the bottle without damaging it.
Sommeliers’ favourite corkscrew
The L’Atelier du Vin Bilame has been a favourite among sommeliers since it was introduced in 1949. The corkscrew is small in size, so it can easily fit in a pocket or apron. It comes with a protective cover so you won’t accidentally injure yourself on the pins. But there is another reason why the Twin Blade corkscrew is preferred by many sommeliers. When you use a Twin Blade corkscrew to remove the cork from the bottle, you can close the bottle again with the same cork. It was therefore used by sommeliers in the past to check the wine (and secretly take a sip) and close it again without anyone noticing.
