9/16/22 – This is a nice example of a JP Sauer K98 rifle issued to the Nazi military in 1942. It has the proper “ce” Sauer factory code and “Eagle 37” military proof on the receiver. The floor plate, trigger group, rear sight, and bolt release are matching. The bolt is matching to itself but is mismatched to the receiver. The barrel bands are un-numbered. The stock is not numbered, but there are two “Eagle 359” military acceptance proofs on the bottom edge of the butt stock. There is an area of noticeable thinning on the receiver. Thinning, splotchy discoloration, and some spotty oxidation along the barrel. A scratch on the floor plate and some minor pin-pricking on the underside of the trigger guard. Excellent stock with only minor handling marks here and there – may have been very lightly sanded. Mint bore. NOTE:The front sight is loose and would probably need to be repaired or pinned in place by a gunsmith.
